SpineX: The Story

In 1970 Dr. Reggie Edgerton, a young kinesiology professor took a sabbatical to study the restoration of movement after a spinal cord injury with neurophysiologist Dr. Sten Grillner in Sweden.

This work sparked a 50-year-long journey as Dr. Edgerton continued to study the benefits of electrical stimulation on the spine. He continued building out from his lab with his team of clinicians, engineers, and neuroscience researchers.

Dr. Parag Gad

SpineX Co-founder and CEO, Dr. Parag Gad joined Dr.Edgerton’s group in 2008. They worked closely for over a decade and discovered that the stimulation of the spinal cord could improve autonomic functions such as bladder, bowel, and sexual functions.

Dr. Evgeniy Kreydin

Dr. Evgeniy Kreydin started working with Dr. Gad in 2015, to translate their findings for individuals living with paralysis. Together they discovered, that autonomic functions could be improved through external, non-invasive spinal stimulation. This was their ‘a-ha’ moment that eventually led to the creation of SpineX.
